i’ve got dance in my pants.

Filed under: about, in — alydonly @ 11:16 am

it’s thursday, congress called last votes yesterday… and i’m ready to dance. i was talking to amanda yesterday about her latest adventures in parisian nightlife and she directed me to the video above of the latest dance craze to sweep france, tecktonik. not only does this make me want wear more neon, but it got me totally psyched to find a place to cut a rug this weekend.

finding a good place to dance in dc (and convincing your friends that you’re right) has proven to require a decent amount of effort – at least if you’re looking to venture out of the 18th street meat market. as far as i can tell – downstairs at saint ex has got it going on. the bartenders and bar-goers are friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced and the lines to get them aren’t backbreaking. the DJs achieve a delicate balance of sceney music (that admittedly, i often find myself trying and remember so i can update my itunes library later that night) and all around crowd-pleasing dance hits. basically, the music is good enough to make you want to dance, even before you start swilling tequila.

  1. well if you were in Paris you could take yourself down to Mixe (a club known for its Techtonik dancing)…that is if you are willing to pay the 20euro (!!!) cover…which i was not the other night but might be convinced of at a later date.
Just be careful when dancing near techtonik-ers…all that flailing, you might leave with a few black eyes ;)

  3. yo i love the techtonik shit too. but saint-ex is def not the place to shake it off. K street, having become the new 18th st meat market, likewise is not the spot…. i found the venue though, and its great on friday nights…. contact me for the tip!
